Intern's Blog - Week Four Bethany Roberts, MAP Intern Monday, June 23 Today just didn't feel the same because Brother Sonny did not show his mustache-less face today. Mine and Lyndal's day just wasn't as "Sonny" (get it - like sunny!). There really isn't anything else to say about today because it was so boring without Brother Sonny. Tuesday, June 24 VBS went well tonight, but the real excitement started when we were just about to go to bed. One of the girls looked out the bedroom window because the porch light came on. When she looked out, she saw a middle-aged man walking around in the yard. So Lyndal and I went and got Brother Sonny and he slept in the dining room so we wouldn't be scared. Wednesday, June 25 It was the last night of VBS and it was fantastic! Bob & Larry came out again, then there were several Biblical skits, then the awarding of prizes. At the end, Tim got a pie in the face. Thursday, June 26 Today was the last day of classes. After classes some people worked on their sermons, cleaned, or went to Wal-Mart. After dinner, Bryson's band had a great concert! Friday, June 27 Today was clean up day because everyone is going home tomorrow. To reward us for cleaning so well, we got to go to the mall in Jonesboro! When we got back from the mall, we had a talent show, then we had a very emotional last prayer circle. Saturday, June 28 There were lots of tears today because our month with our friends came to an end. After everyone left, I swept and mopped (my favorite chore!!!) the majority of the MAP building. In the evening, Lyndal, Bryson, and I babysat Gabriel so Mrs. Cindy and Brother Sonny could go out on a date. Sunday, June 29 This morning we went to church, then we went to Ta' Molly's for lunch. At Ta' Molly's, Lyndal cause a scene because she spilled strawberry sauce all over her dress! After we all took afternoon naps, we went back to church, then to Wendy's, then we ended the night by playing games together! Lyndal makes picture frames for the nursery class at VBS. Intern's Blog - Week Four Lyndal Steiner, MAP Intern Monday, June 23 Today we got back to our class schedule. Brother Sonny was sick so it was kinda sad for all the MAPsters. Tonight we had VBS and I think everything went good. Tuesday, June 24 Today was a good day! Brother Sonny finally showed his face. I think he's trying to grow the 'stache back, that's ok though, we're just glad he's feeling better. Tonight we had VBS and we had our record amount of kids! We finished our day with a very exciting night in the girls' room. Wednesday, June 25 Today was spent making preparations for our last night of VBS. We did a few of our skits from the dinner theater. The night ended and I think it was a great success and loads of fun! Thursday, June 26 Today was our last day of classes. In the afternoon the group was taken to Wal-Mart, while Bethany and I stayed home to make the slideshow that was going to be presented tomorrow night. Wow that was a lot of hard work! The group arrived home at about 5:30 then at 6:00 Bryson's band had put together a special concert for all the MAPsters. We also had a 2:00 a.m. lock-in, so it ended up to be a fun-filled night! Friday, June 27 Today was cleaning day. We were allowed to sleep in 'til 10:00 because of last night's lock-in. When everyone was up and about, we started the cleaning. Brother Sonny had told us that if we got all the cleaning done by 2:00, then Cathie would take everyone to the mall. Needless to say, we got it done by 2:00. When we got home, we had our super-fun talent show, watched our amazing slideshow, then ended the night with our last devo and prayer circle, and lots of tears. Saturday, June 28
Today was a sad day. Around 9:00, we all started saying our goodbyes, and by 12:00 everyone was gone. I'm going to miss everyone so much! Later on, Bethany, Bryson and I babysat Gabriel so that Brother Sonny and Ms. Cindy could go on a much needed dinner and movie date. We had a great time here watching Oliver and Company.
Sunday, June 29 Today Brother Sonny preached at Union Central, then after church we went to have a nice meal at Ta Molly's. As we were finishing eating, our waiter brought us out this big strawberry dessert thing that was really good. Since we were all full, we decided to put it in a to-go box. In the mix of Bethany and me trying to pick up our stuff and grab all the food, the box somehow managed to open up causing the food to spill right down my dress! Everyone else seemed to think it was super funny while I got to ride home in a nasty, sticky dress.
